Specifically in three main phases. Initially (1) we help you to be healthier, (2) then to empowered to take care of yourself and lastly (3) inspiring and positively influencing your inner circle of family and friends to be healthier.
Let’s tackle this one phase at a time.
Phase 1: Help you be healthier involves us listening and defining your health goals and then creating a health plan and program to achieve your goals. You’re often in contemplation or preparation mode and it’s likely you’ll require a helping hand from us while you build momentum and learn some new habits, movements and skills.
Phase 2: Empower you to take care of yourself is when you’re in action or maintenance mode where you’ve been consistently taking action, you’re noticing changes, making progress and are becoming a professional at playing the game of healthy change. It’s likely at this stage you’re overcoming obstacles and getting results!
Phase 3: Inspiring and positively influencing your inner circle of family and friends to be healthier. You may enter this phase early on in your journey, however, we’ve found it’ll often take some time and many repeated efforts before your friends and family A) notice how well you’re doing and B) begin to subtly shift their behaviour towards becoming healthier themselves.
The incredible part about getting to Phase 3 is that helping people with there health starts to compound far and wide, positively influencing not only your friends, but friends of friends, and even their friends!
Sounds too good to be true?
Well research, by Christakis and Fowler, found that if a friend of yours becomes obese, you yourself are 45 percent more likely than chance to gain weight over the next two to four years. More surprisingly, however, that if a friend of your friend becomes obese, your likelihood of gaining weight increases by about 20 percent — even if you don’t know that friend of a friend. The effect continues one more person out. If a friend of the friend of your friend develops obesity, you are still 10 percent more likely than random chance to gain weight as well.
Your friends make you gain weight, but so do their friends, and so do their friends of friends. It’s thought that if your friend is obese or a friend of a friend is obese, this changes your perception of what is an acceptable body size and your behavior changes accordingly. Similar results have also been found for smoking and it is likely that the same be true for positive healthy traits like how much movement or exercise you’re completing.

There’s now a growing body of research on the impact of the people you surround yourself with. You may have even heard that “you are the average of the five people you surround yourself with” which can be true for any area of life; health, mindset, education, finances for example. It turns out that the number five may be a more practical and manageable number to handle in our heads but it’s way bigger than that. You’re the average of all the people who surround you, in person and even online! So take a look around at your surroundings – what could you keep, start and stop doing to positively influence your environment from a health perspective.
This is where our mission comes from to create 1,000,000 healthy and active hours* within our Tailored Health community**.
*our healthy and active hours accumulated inside and outside of the Tailored Heath clinic are called Power Hours as you’re empowered to be healthy and active, striving towards your health goals.

To keep us accountable to our mission, we will be totaling the amount of Power Hours the community achieves weekly.
